Our Traditions

Rock Creek practices two traditional styles of Morris: Fieldtown and Ducklington, each named for the English communities from which they originated.

True to the collaborative and evolutionary nature of folk arts, we have also invented a Morris tradition all our own! Created by Aldona Joseph, Wheaton Under Glenmont ("WunderG") is a style designed to be less impactful on the dancer's body. It is characterized by expansive, creative patterns and graceful movement.  For its origins, each dance is named after a DC Metro stop.
